Job Title : Facilities Specialist II

Reports to : Facility Manager

Purpose of Position : In keeping with the Mission/Vision/Values of ComWell, the Facilities Specialist II works with the Facility Manager to ensure the completion of facility and vehicle maintenance and transportation needs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

1. 6. Have a basic understanding of the impact trauma has on a person’s life.  Be aware of the signs, symptoms and special needs a trauma survivor may have.

7. Have an understanding and commitment to self-care practices to prevent or lessen the impact of secondary traumatization with staff and self.

8. Participate in and recognize role in Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) initiatives.  Have a general awareness on the importance of quality improvement throughout the organization.  Identify opportunities for improvement through data, observation of operations or consultation with staff, persons served or other stakeholders.  Identification and input into opportunities for improvement is strongly encouraged.

9. Ability to perform building inspections independently and make recommendations for building maintenance needs. Including the ability to research the best solutions for the identified problem areas.

10. Ability to complete annual accessibility surveys at each ComWell facility. Submit completed paperwork with any needed recommendations.

11. Perform maintenance work as qualified; including but not limited to painting, monitoring of the water system, trouble shooting heating and air conditioning issues, assessing plumbing issues and performing minor carpentry skills.

12. Perform ground maintenance including but not limited to lawn mowing, weed eating, trimming shrubs, shoveling of snow, preparing sidewalks for safe use during ice and snow.

13. Conduct surveys/inspections as assigned, completing forms and or reports with accuracy and timeliness.  Ensures compliance with all applicable rules and regulations (IDOT, State Fire Marshall, applicable Adm. Rules)

14. Provides morning and afternoon transportation of clients to and from the agency and other scheduled activities, performs pre and post trip inspections.

15. Conduct an inventory of supplies, parts, and tools in stock for building/ground maintenance as delegated; making recommendations to the Facility Manager for replacement parts/equipment as needed.

16. Assist with the unloading, breaking down and palletizing of commodity goods per individual institutional order and then loading the truck for delivery as needed.

17. In the absence of the Facility Manager functions as the backup person to insure coordination of routine and emergency transportation and maintenance.

18. Responsible for diagnostic checks on all vehicles to ensure the safe and proper operation of each vehicle.

19. Responsible for diagnosing and performing maintenance on all ComWell vehicles.

20. Responsible for completing all vehicle preventive maintenance scheduled monthly and any repair work on vehicles in accordance with knowledge of subject as needed including all required documentation.

21. Collects and replaces pre trip, post trip, and mileage sheets monthly from all vehicles.

22. Responsible for the security of ComWell equipment.

23. Responsible for maintaining an orderly work area, promoting a safe work environment by maintaining safety consciousness and cleanliness of work area at all times.

24. Participate in training designed to upgrade skills pertinent to this position. Participates on committees as appropriate.

25. Perform related or other duties as assigned by supervisor.

26. Maintain compliance with all ComWell policies and procedures.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements :

  1. Good verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  2. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  3. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  4. High school diploma or GED required
  5. Knowledge of building and ground maintenance
  6. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and transportation.

 

Physical Requirements :

  1. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  2. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  3. Ability to perform a variety of building and ground maintenance duties that includes but is not limited to climbing stairs, squatting, kneeling, exposure to changing weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, snow, ice.  The ability to perform heavy lifting at times due to the variety of job duties include moving furniture, setting up office space, classrooms, and living areas within the residential programs. Must be able to push, pull or lift a minimum of 75 pounds.

 

Job Type & Schedule : Full-Time; 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday

 

Pay : $20.28 per hour
