Job Title : Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Department : Behavioral Health

Reports to : Collaborating Physician, Clinical Psychiatric Manager, Administrative

Purpose of Position : In keeping with the Mission/Vision/Values of ComWell, the PMHNP’s primary responsibility is to provide psychiatric assessment and ongoing medication monitoring appointments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
1. 6. Have a thorough understanding on the impact of trauma on a person’s life. Understand the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients and families and be competent in delivering trauma informed interventions that lessen the symptoms associated with trauma while improving the quality of life for clients.

7. Have an understanding and commitment to self-care practices to prevent or lessen the impact of secondary traumatization with staff and self.

8. Participate in and recognize role in Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) initiatives. Have general awareness on the importance of quality improvement throughout the organization. Identify opportunities for improvement through data, observation of operations or consultation with staff, persons served or other stakeholders. Identification and input into opportunities for improvement is strongly encouraged.

9. Work with collaborating physician to deliver healthcare services to clients of ComWell, including but not limited to: client assessment and diagnosis; ordering diagnostic and therapeutic tests; ordering treatments; and providing patient education.

10. Delegation of nursing activities or tasks to a medical assistant, LPN, RN, or other personnel.

11. Assessment of new intakes upon referral. The PMHNP will determine the frequency and extent to which any future visit of said individual with consultation of referring physician.

12. Diagnosis of illness and management of wellness as appropriate in the PMHNP training, and under the medical direction of the collaborating physician.

13. Caring for individuals by using advanced diagnostic skills, including the results of diagnostic tests.

14. Initiate and coordinate care for individuals using professional judgment by ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, administration of medications, and using medical, therapeutic, and corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.

15. Promote mental health and substance use prevention and general health maintenance through patient education.

16. Prescribing and dispensing legal drugs and controlled substances.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements :
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
2. Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
3. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
4. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
5. PMHNP certification and all other certifications and licenses required by State and Federal guidelines.

 

Physical Requirements :
1. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
2. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
3. Must be able to occasionally lift, pull or push up to 20lbs.

 

Starting Pay : $97,000 to commensurate with experience

Schedule : 36 hour work week, no holidays, no weekends, no on-call
