I am a dedicated Co-Occurring, mental health and substance use, counselor with a passion for helping individuals navigate their recovery journey. I grew up in Central Illinois and fell in love with the Southern Illinois area when I moved here for school, which has shaped my commitment to serving the local community. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Lindenwood University Belleville and later obtained my master’s in Professional Counseling and School Counseling from Lindenwood University. I am a licensed School Counselor and currently working toward my Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor(CADC) certification and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) credentials.
I believe that each person is the expert in their own story, and I strive to create a supportive and collaborative environment that empowers each individual to make meaningful changes in their lives. I take an eclectic approach to therapy meaning that I tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs and in corporate different evidence-based techniques. Typically, I utilize a combination Motivational Interviewing and Community Reinforcement Approach following a Trauma Informed and Client Centered approach.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife, hanging out with friends and cuddling on the couch with my two dogs, Winston and Archie. I have been bowling since I was four years old, competed for a national title in college and travel the country to compete competitively. I’m a passionate Star Wars fan which is reflected in my office décor. When it comes to Harry Potter, I proudly represent Gryffindor, embracing bravery and determination. I love Pokémon, specifically the video games and also enjoy the adventure of collecting from the trading card game. Video games are another big hobby of mine, offering both relaxation and competition across a variety of genres. I previously have competed on the Major League Gaming professional circuit under various Call of Duty titles and recognize the value that video games have on an individual’s development. I also enjoy playing golf although it is definitely not my claim to fame.
