Position Overview :
In alignment with ComWell’s Mission, Vision, and Values, the Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care and support to individuals with behavioral health and/or intellectual disabilities. This role assists individuals with daily living activities, community involvement, skill development, and personal growth while promoting independence in a safe and supportive environment.
The DSP works as part of a team to provide trauma-informed, person-centered services that enhance the health, well-being, and quality of life of individuals served.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, feeding, and mobility
- Support implementation of client-centered plans and document progress toward goals
- Monitor client health, behavior, and overall functioning and communicate changes to appropriate staff
- Assist with behavior support plans and crisis intervention as needed
- Provide instruction and support with life skills, social skills, money management, and community integration
- Advocate for individuals and encourage independence and self-advocacy
- Transport individuals to appointments, community activities, employment, and program services using agency vehicles
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with agency policies and procedures
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Proof of 8th grade education required; High school diploma or GED preferred
- DSP certification required within 120 days of hire
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass DOT physical required
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to perform essential job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and applicable standards
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Ability to frequently move, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs or more
Compensation : $19.60 per hour
