Position Overview :
In alignment with ComWell’s Mission, Vision, and Values, the School Counselor provides behavioral health services and emotional support to students within the school setting. This position works collaboratively with students, families, school personnel, and community providers to assess needs, develop treatment goals, and provide counseling services that promote emotional well-being, resilience, academic success, and healthy social development.

The School Counselor utilizes a trauma-informed, person-centered approach while coordinating care and support services to meet the unique needs of each student and family.

 

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct screenings, assessments, and intake services using trauma-informed and student-centered practices
  • Develop individualized treatment goals and support plans based on student strengths and needs
  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling services utilizing evidence-based practices
  • Collaborate with school personnel, families, and community providers to coordinate care and support services
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with state, agency, and school standards
  • Provide crisis intervention, follow-up support, and referrals to additional services as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support development and improvement of behavioral health programs and student services
  • Maintain compliance with all ComWell policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Social Services-related field required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate professional consultation and collaboration
  • Ability to effectively manage a caseload and prioritize responsibilities
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, person-centered care
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required
  • Must meet requirements for CANTS check, criminal background check, and Health Care Worker Background Check
